The Scottish Conservative Party in Scotland has recently made some significant changes at the top with the appointment of a new chairman and treasurer. Alisdair Locke, a prominent businessman and Tory donor, has been named as the new party chairman, while Malcolm Offord, also known as Lord Offord of Garvel, has been appointed as the party treasurer.
Alisdair Locke is a well-known figure in the business world, having founded and chaired Motor Fuel Group, chaired First Property Group, and served as the executive chairman of Abbot Group. His generous donation of £75,000 to the party in the lead-up to the election has earned him this new role as chairman, taking over from MSP Craig Hoy.
Meanwhile, Lord Malcolm Offord brings a wealth of experience to his new position as party treasurer, having previously served as a minister in the Scotland Office and the Department for Business and Trade. Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay expressed his delight at the appointments, highlighting the knowledge and experience that both Locke and Offord bring to the table.
Findlay praised Locke as one of Scotland’s leading entrepreneurs and emphasized the importance of his ongoing support for the party. He also commended Offord for his years of service as a UK government minister, noting that their appointments align with the party’s values of aspiration and opportunity for all.
With these new appointments, the Scottish Tories aim to position themselves as the “party of business,” showcasing their commitment to working closely with prominent figures in the business community. In addition to Locke and Offord, MSP Pam Gosal has been named as deputy chairwoman, further strengthening the party’s leadership team and setting the stage for future success.
