Motorists in Glasgow, brace yourselves for some upcoming diversions! The M8 Kingston Bridge, a critical route into the city center, will soon be undergoing inspections that will impact your daily commute. As road safety remains a top priority, the Roads watchdog Amey has announced these necessary inspections to ensure the safety and condition of the bridge complex, particularly below the West Street on-slip.

Diversions and Lane Closures

Starting from Tuesday, December 17th, until Friday, December 20th, between the hours of 11 pm and 5 am each night, diversions will be in place, redirecting traffic away from the inspection zones. These lane closures are vital for the inspection teams to conduct their work effectively. By Saturday, December 21st, all traffic management will be removed, allowing normal traffic flow to resume.

Nightly Lane Closure Schedule

Here’s a breakdown of the lane closures you can expect during this period:
– Tuesday, December 17th: Closure of M8 eastbound lanes 1 and 2.
– Wednesday, December 18th: Closure of M8 eastbound lanes 2 and 3.
– Thursday, December 19th: Closure of M8 westbound lanes 1 and 2, with Stobcross Road and Waterloo Street also closed. A signed diversion route will guide drivers through Argyle Street, James Watt Street, Broomielaw, Nelson Street, Tradeston Street, Cook Street, West Street, and Scotland Street to rejoin the M8 westbound at Junction 22.
– Friday, December 20th: Closure of M8 westbound lanes 2 and 3, along with Stobcross Road and Waterloo Street. A signed diversion will be in place to assist drivers during this time.

Emergency Services Access

While these necessary works are ongoing, access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained to ensure public safety remains a top priority throughout this period.

As you plan your travels during these dates, be sure to account for potential delays and follow the designated diversions to navigate around the affected areas smoothly. Your cooperation during this time is greatly appreciated as we work together to ensure the safety and integrity of critical infrastructure in Glasgow.

Remember, safety first, Glasgow!
