Wigan Warriors coach, Matt Peet, has given an update on Jai Field’s injury status ahead of their match against Leeds Rhinos. Field, who returned from a hamstring injury on August 1st and scored a try in their previous game against Huddersfield Giants, was rested for the recent match against Leigh Leopards as part of a planned strategy.

Despite being named in the squad, Field did not feature in the last game, which Wigan won 28-6. However, Peet has confirmed that Field will be back in action for the upcoming match against Leeds Rhinos. The coach explained that due to a grueling schedule of three games in nine days, Field was not expected to play in all three matches after his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

In a press conference, Peet mentioned that it was risky for Field to play in all three games consecutively, so the decision was made to rest him for the second match. With Brad O’Neill out for the season due to an ACL injury, there is a need for a replacement number 9 in the team. Kruise Leeming stepped up in the last game, but additional support is required.

On a positive note, Peet shared that Tom Forber, who has been recovering from an injury, will be returning to senior level soon. Forber is set to play for the reserves on Saturday to build his confidence and get some valuable minutes on the field. This strategic decision will allow him to ease back into the senior squad more effectively.

The Wigan Warriors are gearing up for a challenging match against Leeds Rhinos, with Field’s return adding strength to the team. Peet’s thoughtful management of player injuries and rotations demonstrates the team’s commitment to ensuring each player’s well-being and performance on the field. As fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming game, the Warriors are focused on maintaining their winning streak and overcoming tough opponents in the league.
