So, like, six fire trucks rushed over to Springhill and Leadloch Road areas near Shotts when the alarm went off at 4.09pm on Sunday. Talk about a crazy situation, right? Over 30 firefighters were on the scene dealing with the incident, which happened when there was this “extreme” risk of wildfires warning all over Scotland. It was pretty intense, man.
The next day, there was only one fire engine left at the scene. I mean, that’s a lot less than the day before, right? And because of the strong winds, smoke was all over Shotts on Sunday. Residents were told to keep their windows and doors shut tight. Can you imagine the smell that must have been lingering around the town? Yikes.
In the nearby towns of Motherwell, Wishaw, and Newmains, people were warned to stay alert and block out the smoke by closing their windows and doors. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service had issued this warning of “extreme” wildfire risk all across the country starting from Thursday, May 15, until Monday, May 19. That’s like a whole week of being on high alert. Stay safe, everyone!
