So, like, there was this dude named Anthony Burke, 60, who totally ran over Gloria Graham, 64, in Glasgow city centre on February 2, 2023. Gloria, a mom of two, was just crossing the street when Burke’s Volkswagen Tiguan smashed into her, you know?
The crazy thing is, there were already emergency crews dealing with another crash nearby and they totally saw the whole thing go down. Miss Graham got rushed to the hospital but sadly passed away on March 1, 2023.
Burke, who had never been in trouble before, went and pleaded guilty for causing Miss Graham’s death by driving like a total idiot. The court even watched CCTV footage of the whole mess with police vans and ambulances all over the place.
It seems like Miss Graham was just trying to get home when she bumped into a cop, crossed the road, and then BAM! Burke comes around the corner and smacks into her. The dude tried to slow down but didn’t stop in time.
The poor lady ended up with a head injury, broken ribs, and a messed up lung. All because this Burke guy couldn’t keep his eyes on the road. The court said he totally had enough time to stop but just didn’t bother.
Now, the judge is holding off on sentencing Burke until next month. But he’s already been banned from driving and has to check in with the court until then. And just down the street, there was another fatal crash with some other guy named Razaq who hit a woman from Nigeria. It’s like a total mess out there on the roads.
