A Tribute to Rarity: The Splendours Collection
The inaugural offering in The Splendours Collection, this 65-year-old masterpiece pays homage to the Himalayan Blue Poppy, a flower known for its unparalleled beauty and scarcity. Encased in 151 meticulously handcrafted decanters created by John Galvin and Glasstorm, each vessel is a work of art in itself. Designed in the shape of a Mobius strip seed pod, these decanters exude elegance and sophistication in every detail.
Greig Stables, the esteemed Master Distiller at The Glen Grant, expressed his admiration for this exceptional spirit, stating, “The true scarcity of this spirit at 65 Years Old is testament to the unwavering approach to whisky making and visionary innovation which has defined The Glen Grant. Although distilled back in 1958, the methods remain almost entirely the same today, reflecting the legacy of our forefathers. This whisky captures a lifetime of flavor and character from its journey in a single French oak butt, retaining the distinct and singular character of The Glen Grant.”
A Celebration of Art and Craftsmanship
To commemorate the launch of this extraordinary whisky, The Glen Grant has partnered with the renowned post-digital art group Random International. Together, they will showcase ‘Seasons’, a live performance painting experience during the upcoming Art Week in Hong Kong. This innovative artwork will feature the creation of 65 bespoke pieces, each inspired by the rich history and meticulous craftsmanship that went into perfecting the 65-Year-Old whisky.
Hannes Koch, the co-founder of Random International, shared his insights into the artistic process behind ‘Seasons’, stating, “Our bespoke Pixelography performance ‘Seasons’ is an artistic response to The Glen Grant’s celebration of cyclical change in The Garden of Splendours, especially spanning across the decades it took to craft and perfect the 65-Year-Old. This informed our creation of the custom source imagery for ‘Seasons’; and it is also embodied in the Pixelography process itself, wrestling unlimited, intangible, digital imagery back into the finite, material world through the very act of painting.”
As whisky enthusiasts and art aficionados eagerly await the release of this exceptional 65-year-old single malt, the intersection of craftsmanship, innovation, and creativity shines brightly in this collaboration between The Glen Grant and Random International. The Splendours Collection promises to be a testament to the enduring legacy of whisky-making excellence and artistic mastery, inviting discerning individuals to savor the rare and remarkable flavors of this unparalleled spirit.
