An hour away from Glasgow, I arrived at Hamilton Place in Stockbridge at 7:30 pm, just 30 minutes late for my reservation. Despite my tardiness, the restaurant, Eòrna, was accommodating. The intimate setting of Eòrna, seating only 12 people around a curved bar with the chef visible in the open kitchen, initially made me a bit nervous.

As the night unfolded, I realized that the space between diners allowed for a comfortable dining experience. The highlight of the evening was a tasting menu that received a perfect 10/10 score. The dishes, such as the Partridge Pithivier and the Gouda mousse with sweet quince, were exceptional and left a lasting impression.

While some dishes like the Scotch beef tartare lacked seasoning, others like the Belhaven Smoked Salmon and the wild halibut were outstanding. The chef’s expertise in preparing the dishes was evident in the burst of flavors and textures. The hand-prepared loin of Highland venison and the desserts, including a buttermilk panacotta and a Grand Marnier Souffle, were also highlights of the meal.
