A charming hotel in Fife with breathtaking sea views has recently unveiled a new cozy bar area called The Juan Fernandez.
The Juan Fernandez bar at The Crusoe in Lower Largo boasts an impressive selection of malt whiskies from all five whisky regions in Scotland. Guests can enjoy well-known Scottish favorites, as well as rare finds like a 21-year-old Dalmore and a 23-year-old Glenfiddich.
In addition to its whisky collection, the bar also offers a variety of Scottish gins from different regions across the nation. From Shetland to Galloway, Barra to Montrose, there is something for every gin enthusiast to savor.
With seating for only up to 12 people, The Juan Fernandez bar provides an intimate setting for customers to enjoy whisky and gin flights, allowing them to sample a range of styles and flavors.
The bar’s name, Juan Fernandez, pays tribute to the Juan Fernandez archipelago where Alexander Selkirk, a resident of Lower Largo, was stranded in the early 18th century. Selkirk’s experience on the remote island is said to have inspired Daniel Defoe’s novel “Robinson Crusoe,” published in 1719.
The new bar adds to The Crusoe Hotel’s existing food and drink offerings, which include the Selkirk private dining area. The hotel also features a first-floor restaurant with panoramic sea views and a ground-floor Seaside Bar offering locally sourced Scottish cuisine in a dog-friendly environment.
Owned by TBC Company, which also operates The Ship Inn in Elie and The Bridge Inn in Edinburgh, The Crusoe Hotel underwent a million-pound refurbishment before reopening in July 2021. The hotel has received accolades such as AA Guest Accommodation of the Year for Scotland and Romantic Hotel of the Year at The Scottish National Hotels of the Year Awards.
