ScotRail has revealed that there will be more trains running on Boxing Day this year compared to previous years. The services will include routes to and from Perth, Alloa, Dunblane, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, similar to last year. Additionally, there will be new services running from Edinburgh to Dundee/Leven, as well as between Dundee and Arbroath.

However, it is important to note that there will be no train services on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Furthermore, on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, the last trains will depart earlier than usual. Phil Campbell, the customer operations director at ScotRail, expressed his excitement about providing extra seats and services during this festive season. He highlighted the significance of this time of year for people, whether they are visiting loved ones, shopping, or enjoying nights out.

In previous years, ScotRail has only been able to operate trains in the Strathclyde area on Boxing Day. However, this year, they have expanded their services significantly to include more destinations such as Arbroath, Leven, Dundee, Perth, Dunblane, Alloa, and between Glasgow and Edinburgh. To ensure a smooth journey, customers are advised to plan ahead, check their journey on the ScotRail app or website, and be aware of any minor amendments to train times in the timetable change on December 15.

Moreover, ScotRail has announced that additional late-night trains will be running on specific dates in November and December. A normal service will be in place between December 27 and December 30. For more details about the Christmas timetable and train times, passengers can visit the ScotRail website.

Overall, ScotRail’s increased Boxing Day train services aim to provide more convenience and accessibility for customers during the festive season. By expanding their routes and offering extra seats, ScotRail is committed to ensuring that people can travel comfortably and efficiently to their desired destinations.
