The service between Glasgow city centre and Edinburgh Airport just got a fancy upgrade with some shiny new buses and more frequent trips. The route now runs all day, every day between Edinburgh Airport and Buchanan Bus Station, making stops at Maxim Park, Harthill Services, Newbridge East, and Baillieston.
Eight brand spanking new Irizar i6S Efficient coaches have hit the road, thanks to a cool £2.5 million investment. These bad boys come equipped with all the bells and whistles – think fold-down tables, reading lights, and USB chargers.
These coaches are top of the line, boasting a 53-seat capacity and some serious eco-friendly features. Manufacturer Irizar claims they’re the most efficient coaches around, with reduced consumption and emissions by up to 13%. Plus, they’ve shed some pounds in weight, making them sleek and efficient machines.
The service has really stepped up its game, now running every 20 minutes instead of the previous 30-minute intervals. Scottish Citylink Managing Director, Simone Walsh, is all about it, saying, “Our AIR route is a lifeline for folks traveling to and from Edinburgh Airport. We’re always looking to improve, and these snazzy new vehicles and increased frequency are sure to make our customers happy. Bring on the summer rush!”
Gordon Dewar, Big Boss at Edinburgh Airport, is pumped about the upgraded service, too. He says, “We want to make sure Edinburgh Airport is easy to reach for everyone. The route between the airport and Glasgow is super popular, so it’s awesome to see Citylink stepping it up with more trips on their slick new fleet.”
