Glasgow Summer Trad Music Festival: Unveiling the Spectacular Lineup

The highly anticipated Reeling festival, one of Scotland’s premier trad music events, is set to take place at Rouken Glen Park from June 6 to June 8. With the final lineup now revealed, music enthusiasts are in for a treat as some of the most prominent names in the Scottish trad music scene prepare to grace the stage.

Headlining the festival are revered artists such as Blazin’ Fiddles, Dougie MacLean OBE, Shooglenifty, Eddi Reader MBE, and the electronic duo Valtos. Additionally, festival-goers can look forward to captivating performances by Ciaran Ryan Band, Dàimh, Dàna, Donald & Peigi Barker, Flook, HEISK, Jack Badcock, LÉDA, Liv Dawn, The Paul McKenna Band, Rebecca Hill & Charlie Stewart, Ryan Young, and Tarran on the Saturday and Sunday dates.

In a recent announcement, The Reeling unveiled the final lineup for its upcoming edition in 2025. Scottish folk powerhouses Talisk and RURA are set to steal the show, alongside Breabach, BBC ALBA’s ‘Folk Band of The Year’ 2022, and trad pop ensemble Mec Lir. The festival will also feature Gaelic singers Sian with their expanded six-piece band, Beth Malcolm performing tracks from her recent album ‘FOLKMOSIS’, and acclaimed fiddler Laura Wilkie delivering lively tunes on stage.

Adding to the excitement are emerging talents like multi-instrumentalist Malin Lewis, known for his unique self-made bagpipes, and folk fusion group Astro Bloc, who will be joining the impressive lineup.

The brainchild behind The Reeling is Michael Pellegrotti, co-director of Skye Live Festival, who emphasizes the importance of showcasing Scotland’s rich traditional music scene through a diverse lineup. Pellegrotti stated, “Since we launched The Reeling two years ago, it has always been about showcasing the incredible breadth of Scotland’s traditional music scene. This year’s festival promises to be a vibrant weekend that captures the magic of our contemporary folk scene – with fun available for all the family.”
