Dundee Football Club’s Ambitious Plan for New Stadium Unveiled
Dundee Football Club recently unveiled their ambitious plan to build a new stadium and event campus at Camperdown, with hopes of starting construction next year pending planning permission approval.
The Tayside club shared a captivating video showcasing the proposed design of their new home in the north of the city, created by the project’s architect, Holmes Miller. The visual presentation takes fans on a three-minute journey through the impressive plans for the stadium and event campus.
According to the club, they have been diligently working with a team of expert consultants to ensure the viability of the project. Earlier this year, Dundee submitted a comprehensive Planning Permission in Principle document to Dundee City Council, expressing confidence in a positive outcome in the near future.
“We are eagerly awaiting the council’s planning decision to allow us to get started on this exciting project as soon as possible. Our goal is to ‘break ground’ in 2025, pending approval,” stated a representative from Dundee Football Club.
Moving from their current home at Dens Park, which has served as the club’s base for 125 years, Dundee emphasized the need for a new stadium due to the deteriorating condition of Dens Park, which is becoming increasingly costly to maintain.
Incorporating elements of Dens’ history into the new stadium design, Dundee expressed openness to selling naming rights to generate revenue. The club highlighted the importance of retaining a connection to their heritage while exploring opportunities for sponsorship and partnership.
As the project progresses, Dundee plans to involve fans in the decision-making process regarding the stadium’s name, ensuring that the new venue honors the club’s legacy while embracing modern opportunities for growth and development.
